Softcard
JVL Ventures, LLC d/b/a Softcard formerly Isis Mobile Wallet, was a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon which produced a mobile payments platform known as Softcard.
The challenge
2012-2014 saw a rise in a new mobile wallet system that utilized NFC technology that was designed to allow users to pay for various services and goods by tapping their phone on the terminal.
Softcard desired to develop a hardware and software solution for iOS and Android that would allow the 3 largest cellular giants Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile to be at the forefront of evangelizing this technology.
Our Solution
Bringing together the latest in design and technology we enabled user’s to link popular credit cards with the largest credit card providers which included Chase, American Express, and Visa.
This created a precedent for establishing competition with Apple Pay.
Our Impact
This project successfully allowed T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T be the first to market with NFC payment technology.
The technology was so successful that it was later acquired by Google as part of its Google Wallet Solution. Google Wallet has now become Android Pay and is now the direct competitor of Apple Pay.
